I was born in North Carolina on August 23, 1975, and have dual UK/US citizenship (American mother, British father). After a brief stay in Missouri we moved to England when I was very young, first to Morecambe, and then to Market Drayton where I grew up. I studied music at York University, lived for several years in Brighton, and then moved to Seattle where I met my wonderful wife, Tracy Jones.
I play guitar (mostly classical), keyboards, percussion, and sing baritone. I spend a lot of time writing and recording music in my home studio, including the menu tune for the MotoGP games. My musical tastes are all over the place, from Mike Keneally, King Crimson, and Janes Addiction, to Miles Davis, Susheela Raman, Jaga Jazzist, and the Afro Celt Sound System.
I am a voracious reader: usually science fiction and fantasy, but I'll read anything if I'm desperate enough, to feed my addiction :-) My must-read books include the Ender series by Orson Scott Card, the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons, David Zindell's Neverness books, A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge, and anything by David Mitchell, Neal Stephenson, or Stephen Donaldson.
I love hiking in remote, mountainous parts of the world, and am deeply in love with Mount Rainier. I also enjoy gardening, home brewing, and relaxing with our two cats and two dogs.Back to my homepage
